Why a Magic Parti Poodle Puppy ?

Breeder's Poem

I love my little puppy; she makes my house a home.
She is my very sweetest little friend; I never feel alone.
She makes me smile; She makes me laugh; She fills my heart with love . . .
Did some person breed her, or did she fall from above?

I've never been a breeder, never seen life through their eyes;
I hold my little puppy and just sit and criticize.
I've never known their anguish; I've never felt their pain,
The caring of their charges, through snow or wind or rain.

I've never waited the whole night through for babies to be born,
The stress and trepidation when they're still not there by morn.
The weight of responsibility for this body in my hands,
This darling little baby, who weighs but 60 grams.

Should you do that instead of this . . . Or maybe that was wrong?
Alone you fight and hope, one day, he'll grow up proud and strong.
You pray he'll live to bring great joy to someone els e's home.
You know it's all just up to you; you'll fight this fight alone.

Formula, bottles, heating pads, you've got to get this right,
Two-hour feedings for this tiny guy, throughout the day and night.
Within your heart you dread that you will surely lose this fight,
To save this little baby, but God willing . . . You just MIGHT.

Day one; he's in there fighting; you say a silent prayer.
Day two & three, he's doing well, with lots of love and care.
Day four & five . . . he's still alive; your hopes soar to the heavens.
Day six he slips away again, dies in your hands, day seven.

You take this little angel, and bury him alone.
With aching heart and burning tears, and an exhausted groan,
You ask yourself, "Why do this? . . . Why suffer through this pain?"
Yet watch the joy your puppies bring, and everything's explained.

So, when you think of breeders and label them with "Greed,"
Think of all that they endure to fill another's need.
For when you buy your puppy, with your precious dollars part,
You only pay with money . . . While they pay with all their heart.

What makes the puppies from Magic Parti Poodles a better value and a better pet than a puppy from somewhere else?

There are hundreds of places where you can pick up a new puppy for your home from the local
shelter to any one of more than hundreds of kennels nationwide or even the many classifieds in the newspapers or online that you can pick up cheap or even free.  We are by all means in support of adoptions to save animals from neglect, abuse and/or even death.    However, there is more than likely no record of the genetics, health, prior treatment, socialization or medical problems these animals may  have.  Many times you will get a puppy that has never been played with or loved.  Sometimes they have even been abused which will make them afraid of people, noises or surroundings.  These dogs will either have emotional problems or have the tendency to be aggressive.  There are many people that have quality dogs and many that don't.  We believe that we raise extremely well socialized, loving puppies and can furnish references to back up that claim.

Here is what you get when you get a Puppy from Magic Parti Poodles:

Your puppy will be groomed

Your new puppy will be delivered clean and groomed with a fresh new "puppy cut".

Most kennels, (and all shelters that I am aware of) may give the puppy a bath, if you're lucky, and hand the puppy over.

  • Being groomed, especially for a Toy Poodle, is much more than a 15 minute haircut.  Your new Magic Parti Poodle puppy will be neatly trimmed, with clean face and feet.  This will probably be done at 6 weeks and again just before they are delivered to you.  Your puppy will be somewhat adjusted to the experience and the noise and vibration of the clipper.
  • Your Puppy will be bathed, brushed, and dried by hand several times with tear free shampoo before they go to their new home.  The are never shoved in a kennel or crate and dried.  They are help and talked to the whole time so they are not stressed by this new experience.
  • His/her ears will clean and be free of excessive hair.
  • His/her toenails have already been clipped many times and will be when you receive your puppy.  Your puppy will be used to having this done and not panic when someone tries to mess with their feet or be afraid of the sound of the clippers.  These little guys nails grow very quickly and are sharp as razors when they are little so they need to be trimmed often not only so they don't hurt anyone or themselves by scratching.  With these sharp little nails it is also possible to snag on things such as carpets or rugs and cause severe injury as they fight to loose themselves.
  • Their teeth will have been thoroughly inspected and treated or cleaned, as needed.
  • The puppy's skin and eyes will be inspected, treated or cleaned as needed as well.
  • These inspections will not only be done by us on a regular basis but by our veterinarian.

Your puppy will be called by name

As soon as we have received your deposit for your new puppy, we will ask you if you have a name picked out yet.  Once you do, your new puppy will be called by his/her new name.  The puppy will become used to hearing the name which will give him/her one more "comfortable" thing once he is delivered to you.  (Just think, the first time you see your puppy and call his name, he'll recognize it and respond.  He'll know he's in friendly territory!)

Your puppy will start to be crate trained

Your new Magic Parti Poodle puppy has had his/her own crate for sleeping since weaning.  This makes for a much easier transition to your new home.  It is very traumatic for a puppy to go directly from sleeping with his siblings and mom to sleeping alone in a strange place.  By giving each new puppy their own sleeping quarters as soon as they are old enough, our puppies not only will come to your home well adjusted to sleeping without his brothers and sisters, but he will also be partially, if not fully, crate trained.  (This means a much healthier, happier puppy and new owner as you won't be cleaning up puppy poop every morning!)  Crate training is also the first step in house training.  It teaches the new puppy to "hold it" until he is taken outside.  Some think this is cruel but if you think about it they are in the whelping bed with mom (in our case a play pen) then they are moved to an exercise pen bigger for exercise but they also have a hooded cloth cat bed that they love to cuddle in.  (This, by the way, was one of our best investments with all our dogs.  Even the adults LOVE them with the hood on better than an open bed)  Remember instinctively in the wild the mother canine will make or find a small den to have and raise her babies in.  Being in a crate is cozy, warm and safe to them.  We don't use hard plastic crates with metal doors.  There is nothing wrong with that for some people we just prefer to purchase a small carrying tote/crate that is soft sided and has a padded cloth bottom.  We just think it is more cozy for them and nicer for you because your little baby will come home with his/her very own carrying tote/crate that your puppy is already familiar with and used for trips to the vet, to sleep in and has the scent of mom and siblings so he will not stress so much when he first gets to his new surroundings.

Your puppy will have started some basic house training

  • Since ALL of our puppies are raised in our home, they literally start out in our bedroom until weaned. They are then allowed  run, play, sleep under our feet, sit on our laps and investigate/integrate into the whole living environment. They are also in an exercise pen in our living room at times so they are used to being in a small controlled area  We have many sets of eyes watching the puppies as they run, play and   We are constantly on the look-out for the signs that one of the puppies needs "to go". They are  immediately picked up and taken outside.  Our puppies have a head start on house training you won't get from many other puppy sources.  In our experience with "piddle pads" we don't break them to a pad because we have found that our puppies that started out on a piddle pad will inevitably find anything "white" the color of the pad lining, be it a t-shirt, towel, sock, rug, carpet, floor, etc. and pee on it.  Once trained to the pad, then you have to go through the training process again with out doors.  Twice the work in our opinion.  Some people love them so I guess it is a matter of personal opinion.  Others use indoor litter boxes.  We couldn't get the puppies to stop eating the litter and scattering it all over.. a fun thing to play with.  Again personal preference for us is outdoors.
  • House training not only means going potty.  It means teaching them what they can and cannot eat, chew, or get into.  We give them a few toys to play with that are ok. None of which are old shoes, belts and the like.  They can't distinguish between and old shoe and your good shoes.  Papers, wood, furniture, etc. are another no no they are taken away from the object of interest with a stern NO and given their toy and praised for playing with the acceptable play item.  NO barking, NO pottying in the house, NO nipping, NO scratching, NO chewing, etc. is a common utterance around here but there is much more GOOD BABY, GOOD BOY and GOOD GIRL than NO.  We find with positive reassurance outweighing the BAD DOG (ours never hear those words) that they are raised wanting to please more than disappoint.

Your puppy is truly home raised

Often, (way too often) the "home raised puppies" we have come across means nothing more than the puppies are raised on the same property as where the breeder lives.  We have seen time and time again breeders who claim to have "home raised puppies" that simply have a shed out back with floor-to-ceiling kennels stuffed with dogs.  These puppies rarely, if ever, even see the inside of the house, let alone be held and coddled.   Our puppies live, play, and sleep inside our home (literally in our bedroom)  and get to play freely (supervised of course) in our large fenced back yard.  They also are socialized with both of our mom's living here (92 & 80), My sister whose Grand children visit often.  I am here almost 24/7 with them.  The neighbors and neighbor children visit them, they interact with the adult dogs, and two Bengal cats.  We teach them right away to "kiss the kitty".  It is so cute.  They start licking with tails wagging even before they get close to the cat.  This makes it much easier on both you and your new puppy in his new home.   We purposely, periodically, make different noises, such as: popping bags, bubble wrap, shutting doors, ringing phones and expose them to the loud planes (can't help this one) that fly over from the air force base just a few miles away.  We don't want them afraid of every little noise or shadow.  That sounds like a lot of work, you may be thinking.  You would be correct.  You may also think that it's not easy keeping so many dogs and puppies in the house. And you are absolutely right. But it is a constant, full time labor of love.  Just as if they are our children they are cared for, fed, played with, and loved from the moment of birth. We like to think that our hard work makes our puppies healthier and happier while they are with us, and even more importantly, once they are with their new owners.

Your puppy is healthy

Your new puppy will have been wormed, and will have received all his/her shots that are due up to the time of delivery.  All of our puppies receive a certificate of good health from our vet within 10 days of delivery date to insure you get a healthy new puppy.  (note:  some problems are not noticeable at the beginning of life or they might develop later.  Please refer to our Guarantee as to how we handle this situation.  Please have your new pup vet checked with 72 hours.

Here is what one of our Puppies new "Mom" had to say:

"...Hi Marki!

THANK YOU!!!! It was so nice to meet you. We really enjoyed our visit with you and your family. Look forward to getting to know you all better!

Gretchen is doing soooo good. She has not whined or cried at all. No stress and is just making herself at home. She slept on the way home in the car, then she played with the kids and the kittens when we got home. Then her and one of the kittens took a nap together on my lap. It was so sweet! She is very outgoing and my husband is just amazed at how well you have socialized her. You are such a great doggie mom.  My mom and I would definitely recommend that anyone looking for a poodle buy from you. We were so impressed with you and your dogs. She is the perfect dog for our family. We just LOVE her so much! "
